February 14th was just a day and it was a pretty good one. I mean, I felt like shit actually, most of the day was a total horror. But by the grace of cold medicine I was able to play drums and wear spandex in the Bratmobile cover band at the 3rd Annual Anti V-Day Riot Grrrl Covers Show at Death by Audio. Every band that played was great, and I'm really stoked to have been part of this thing. And to have heard songs by Team Dresch and Limp Wrist live? Totally forgot about my hacking cough and fever hallucinations, sang my stupid floral butt off. There was also dancing (crabcore style). Then Suzy and I had a totally HOT valentines evening of HOMEWORK and COLD MEDICINE. It was romantic in its own way!

The next day I was a hot mess and my professor greeted me with a "SOMEONE had fun at the riot grrrl show last night..." Yes. SOMEONE DID.

I can't seem to find any photos or blog posts about the show, which kind of goes as a reminder that we weren't doing anything new, just celebrating the past. But everyone who played also plays in other bands who are making music now, so there are things happening now, if you look hard enough.

My band is pleased to be taking a break from Bratmobile...we love you, but we're gonna have to give it 6 to 8 months, Allison.
